Stephen Layton - Director of Music
Stephen
Layton is Trinity's Director of Music, coming to the College in 2006 with a
distinguished musical pedigree. He brought to Trinity an outstanding
international reputation as a choral director, with an imaginative,
ground-breaking and developing repertoire, an enviable list of award-winning
recording credits, and a challenging prospectus for the Choir's future.
In 2008 the Choir released three outstanding CDs under his direction; these
releases have continued and the Choir
has continued to raise its already prestigious profile with successful
concert engagements and tours.
If you would like to know more about Stephen please visit his website at www.stephenlayton.com. He has written a short piece for the recent Newsletter
Also take a look at the site for Polyphony - the chamber choir founded and still directed by Stephen - in which, over the years, have sung a number of TC Choir alumni. Some truly fantastic recordings - including a performance of music by Poulenc, in which they are joined by the Trinity Choir for the Gloria.
Michael Banner - Dean of Chapel
Michael Banner is the Dean of Chapel, who joined the College from
Edinburgh in 2006. He is a man of academic distinction who has already been
active in supporting and promoting the Choir and TCCA.
He succeeded Arnold Browne, whose unstinting support of the choir over his years at Trinity between 1993 and 2006 will continue to be remembered with enormous gratitude. Arnold played a large part in the formation of the TCCA and the time and effort he devoted to its establishment were remarkable.
